The position will be located at the Center of Biochemical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart within an institute that will be newly established, by fusion of the current Institute of Industrial Genetics (with its new focus on eukaryotic genetics) and the Institute of Cell Biology and Immunology. The professorship will involve the cooperative leadership of this new institute.
Candidates should have demonstrated research excellence in the field of systems biology using experimental and mathematical approaches to study mammalian systems. This includes, for example, the study of model systems at the intra- and intercellular level and/or tissues and organs. Furthermore, applications relevant to biomedical research or pharmaceutical biotechnology are desired.
Active participation in the design of a new M. Sc. study course in Systems Biology is required. The successful candidate is expected to have experience in leadership and team motivation, and the acquisition of external funding.
